The Rise of Rotterdam is the new immersive experience on the ground floor of the Euromast and part of Colourful Rotterdam. Here, you quite literally step into the story of the city. In two immersive rooms, you’ll experience how Rotterdam became what it is today: from water and mud to a colourful metropolis.
Rotterdam, Risen from the water
The story actually begins before the city even existed. At a time when the land was completely underwater. In 1270, a small group of people decided to build a dam in the River Rotte. In true Rotterdam style: no talking, just doing.
Step into the interactive room and immerse yourself in the past. Here, you’ll help the first Rotterdammers tame the river. Walk the water away and help build the dam.
A colourful panorama
We jump forward and arrive in 1960. Rotterdam is flourishing, both literally and figuratively. The Floriade comes to the city, marking the beginning of the Euromast’s construction.
Let yourself be carried away by the story of a city that keeps growing and changing. You’re standing in the middle of a panorama of progress: a bustling port, modern architecture, and people from all over the world.
This is where the Rotterdam we know today takes shape. International, multicultural, and constantly evolving.
